Get Out and Enjoy Epic Year Round Fun - Experiencing the Amazing Burlington Vermont
Posted on March 11 2017
I rarely would talk to you about a city, but this one is so worth it, get out and enjoy epic year round fun in Burlington Vermont, it is amazing. If you find yourself in the Northeast or live in the region, you need to get yourself here. You can truly have an amazing experience any time of year and no matter what you are into.
First off, the town itself is full of outdoorsmen and it is located on beautiful Lake Champlain. The most important part, however, is the location and the areas surrounding Burlington.
It is less than an hour from a ton of ski resorts, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and almost anything else you can think of. In one weekend there, I have hiked mount Washington, backcountry skied at Mad River Glen and had an amazing dinner followed by a kick ass concert downtown.
For some personal favorites I will give you these; renting kayaks and going on a day long paddle on the lake, cliff jumping at Huntington Gorge (be careful with this and read the warning signs), skiing Mad River on a powder day, all followed by some great food and a fun night out at Half Lounge or Radio Bean downtown, normally accompanied by great local music. There are endless opportunities and it is full of great people. I can promise you that you will have a truly amazing time.
Just like its sister city, Boulder, Burlington itself has a unique culture and people. The majority are some of the most friendly and genuine people there are. You could literally show up there all alone, make great new friends within the hour, have a great night and spend the next day outdoors on a mountain or in a creek with a huge new group of friends. I can say that I have made some of my greatest friends on a whim in this town.
One other amazing aspect is the amount of healthy local food, coffee, and beer available. The one and only grocery store called, City Market is a Co-op with an amazing selection of everything you need.
Also, the town is full of locally owned organic cafes and bistros that will exceed your expectations. I promise you will not be disappointed. So grab your gear and get there!
Whether it is hiking, skiing, biking, climbing, whitewater, or anything else you are into, this is the place to do it. That said, if you are anywhere nearby take the opportunity and make a visit. I will be visiting too and you should too. Either way, get outside and experience the world the way that it is meant to be.
